Personalised Unicorn Thank You Teacher Card

Somebody once said to me, 'I don't understand the whole teacher card and gift thing, I mean why should they get thanked like that?'.

And I totally get where they were coming from. Why should teachers suddenly receive cards and gifts at the end of the academic year, purely for doing their job, when no other profession does? They are simply doing their job, so what's the big deal?

It got me thinking about it properly and I realised that, as a parent, I know exactly why I want to take time out to say thank you to them, and to not only my children's teacher, but also their teaching assistants, and even their swimming instructor and music teachers too.

Why? Because they have that done something for them that I can't. They have taught them new things that I simply wouldn't have been able to. They've inspired them, taught them about perseverance, they've recognised when they've worked really hard to achieve something. They've nurtured them and built their confidence even more. They have taken care of them for at least six hours each day. They have ensured their needs are met every day, from keeping their water bottles topped up on a hot day, to challenging them to keep him engaged. They've noticed when they've had a tough day and have keep watch over them.

Teachers have helped and comforted them if they've been hurt after running in the playground and falling over. Swimming instructors are teaching potential life saving skills, should they ever find themselves in trouble in the water. Music teachers indulge their creativity and give them the opportunity to realise that they may well excel in the arts, and that it doesn't have to be all about the academic subjects.

As parents, we want what's best for our children.

At the end of term, you can't help but reflect on how much they've grown in the last year. You know it's not simply down to time passing or your parenting skills, and that a lot of people have had a hand in their development.

Choosing a personalised card from a small business is a lovely way to show them just how special they are and to  show just how much their efforts have been appreciated.

After all, it's nice to be able to take a moment and say thank you, thank you for helping my child grow.
